Before my trip, everyone told me to skip visiting Johannesburg. I would have missed out on some real fun. Friends mentioned how dangerous Johannesburg is, how boring it would be, and that I would be better off staying in Cape Town the whole trip. Johannesburg has a relatively small gay scene, especially in comparison to Cape Town.

On October 13 more than people joined the first Johannesburg Pride march organised by a gay and lesbian organisation.. On Saturday Sandton was very colourful when members of the community and supporters started the annual parade on West Street and ended the event with a festival.
