Gay city staff

The LGBT Community Center, a hub of queer organizing in New York City since , quickly recognized a staff union after workers presented a list of demands to management last month. Workers are represented by Communications Workers of America Local Carla Smith, said in a written statement on April 2. Fair working conditions allow The Center to retain skilled, experienced workers who are satisfied in and dedicated to their roles.

We lean into our responsibility to address critical issues affecting LGBTQ people. The Center advocates for the whole person. The Center is committed to creating more opportunities for all LGTBQ people to receive services, resources, engage in community and in the Arts. We recognize that our community members are multifaceted, with overlapping and intersecting identities.
